Every day across our world people are going to bed without food. Some go without food or water for days at a time. Many of these people are children and the elderly. We here at the Inland Empire Community Outreach Center have made it our goal to work every day to provide aid and assistance to those who cannot support themselves due to unfortunate circumstances, but we cannot do this alone. Your help is needed. Please help us give back to our communities and to those who need help the most. Together we can make a difference. Donate today.

Fighting to combat hunger in Colon, Panama

The Inland Empire Community Outreach Center supports Un Despertar A La Conciencia Del Hombre Con Dios in its battle to eliminate hunger in Panama. Together, we are providing healthy, nutritious meals to those who cannot afford to feed themselves and their families.

Challenge

Hunger in Panama is concerning because the children of Central America will one day become the adults who operate a very important country in the Western Hemisphere. According to the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, "The lack of access to food is the most serious problem. The first development goal of the Millennium Declaration is the eradication of hunger. Child undernutrition is the most serious manifestation of the ongoing lack of food stuffs of sufficient quantity and quality to meet the energy needs of the whole population." The hunger in children is clearly seen by the underweight and low heights for different age groups. This can cause irreversible damage on the development of boys and girls in Panama.

                                                                                                 Value

In Panama, hungry children cannot grow and learn to their full potential. Hungry adults cannot perform hard physical labor; they fall sick more often and are more likely to die young. They are also unwilling to undertake potentially profitable but riskier investments for fear of the consequences of failure. Even worse, hunger perpetuates itself when undernourished mothers give birth to smaller babies who start life with a handicap. A vicious cycle of hunger and poverty is thus created, from which it is difficult for the poor and the hungry to escape without external help. With your help, we can fight this social crisis today. A small $10 donation will feed a Family in Panama for 5 days.
